    Takbirat of Eid al-Adha

    The Takbirat of Eid are an integral part of the blessed Sunnah, following the tradition of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). These Takbirat symbolize joy and gratitude to Allah for the blessing of faith and guidance to perform worship.

    The Legal Format of Takbirat

    According to Islamic jurisprudence, reciting the Takbirat of Eid is commendable and obligatory. Numerous Hadiths encourage Muslims to engage in these Takbirat, making it a recommended practice in Islam.

    The customary format for Takbirat al-Eid is as follows:

    “Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallah, Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar wa lillahi al-hamd. Allahu Akbar kabira, walhamdulillahi kathira, wa subhanallahi bukratan wa asila. La ilaha illallah wahdahu sadaqa wa’adahu, wa nasara ‘abdahu, wa a’azza jundahu, wa hazamal-ahzaba wahdah, La ilaha illallah wahdahu, sadaqa wa’dahu, wa nasara ‘abdahu, wa hazamal-ahzab wahdah, La ilaha illallah, wa la na’budu illa iyyahu mukhlisina lahud-dina wa law karihal-kafirun. Allahumma salli ‘ala sayyidina Muhammad wa ‘ala ali sayyidina Muhammad, wa ‘ala ashabi sayyidina Muhammad, wa ‘ala ansari sayyidina Muhammad, wa ‘ala azwaji sayyidina Muhammad wa sallim tasliman kathira.”

    Timing of Eid Prayer

    The Eid al-Adha prayer begins approximately thirty minutes after sunrise and continues until midday. This timing allows Muslims to perform the prayer within its designated time frame, slightly before the Dhuhr (noon) prayer.

    Determining the Timing of Takbirat al-Eid

    Scholars may differ in opinion regarding the exact timing for initiating the Takbirat of Eid al-Adha. However, it’s unanimously agreed that they should commence before the beginning of the Days of Tashriq. The precise commencement time may vary, and individuals are advised to follow the prevalent opinion in their locality.
