    Employees across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are eagerly anticipating the upcoming Hijri New Year holiday, approved by both public and private sector Human Resources departments. This religious holiday follows shortly after Eid al-Adha and is considered one of the official religious holidays observed in many Arab countries, prominently including Saudi Arabia. It is a fully paid holiday.

    Hijri New Year Holiday Date in Saudi Arabia

    The Hijri New Year holiday will commence on Sunday, July 7, marking the first day of the month of Muharram. The holiday spans three consecutive days, starting from Friday through Sunday. Normal work hours resume on Monday, July 8. Certain private sectors are exempt from the holiday based on issued directives.

    The Hijri calendar begins with the month of Muharram and consists of 12 months, concluding with Dhu al-Hijjah, during which Muslims observe the Hajj pilgrimage.
